đź’•Instructions for Useđź’•

  1. Use quick-setting plaster or ultra-hard plaster for mold pouring. Pour the mold immediately after taking the alginate impression to ensure accuracy. Using less plaster can reduce the workload of trimming.

  2. Apply a layer of Ultradent "Lc Block-Out" resin, approximately 0.5mm thick, to the labial reserve space. Keep it about 1.5mm away from the gingival margin. Do not extend it to the incisal edge or occlusal surface. Cure with VAL0 light, exposing each tooth to the light for 5 seconds. Remove the oxygen-inhibited layer

  3. Use a vacuum forming machine to heat the tray material (Sof-Tray "Classic Sheet") until it relaxes to approximately 1/2 inch. Conform the plastic to the mold shape. Remove the mold from the vacuum forming machine and allow it to cool.
  4. Trim the tray precisely with Ultradent Ultra-Trim scalloped scissors, ensuring the distance from the occlusal surface to the gingival margin is 0.25 to 0.33mm.
  5. Place the tray back on the mold and check the tightness of the tray edges. If necessary, gently heat the tray with a flame—heat one quadrant at a time—and let it cool to achieve a tight fit. While the tray is still warm, immediately dip it in water and press the outer edge of each section firmly against the mold for 3 seconds. If the tray material is too thin, make a new tray.

  6. Instruct the patient to brush their teeth before filling and wearing the tray. Review the instructions included in the whitening kit with the patient together. Place approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of the applicator’s volume of Opalescence PF Whitening Gel into the tray.
  7. Position the tray on the teeth. Press the tray gently to move the gel into the proper place. Excessive force will squeeze the gel out of the tray.
  8. Remove any excess overflowing gel with a soft-bristled toothbrush or clean fingers.
  9. At the final stage of treatment, have the patient brush their teeth, and clean the tray with a soft-bristled toothbrush and cold water.

đź’•Clinical FAQs for Opalescence Teeth Whiteningđź’•

1.Q: Who is not suitable for teeth whitening?

A:

Pregnant women, lactating women, and adolescents under 16 years old.

People with enamel hypoplasia or severe enamel loss, which may cause significant tooth sensitivity.

Those with non-natural teeth, including porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns and veneers.

Patients with serious underlying diseases.

2. Q: What are the contraindications for teeth whitening?

A:Anyone allergic to any component of the product is prohibited from using it.

3.Q: Does whitening treatment cause tooth sensitivity?

A:Tooth sensitivity is a common phenomenon after teeth whitening treatment. If sensitivity occurs, it usually subsides within 24 hours, and the sensitivity caused by whitening is reversible.

4.Q: How to manage tooth sensitivity?

A:

  • For in-office whitening: Use UltraEZ™ before the procedure. Continuous use of Opalescence™ desensitizing toothpaste for 30 days in advance can effectively prevent sensitivity symptoms.

  • For at-home whitening: Pair with UltraEZ™ desensitizing gel and use it together with Opalescence™ desensitizing toothpaste to help prevent or reduce sensitivity.

  • After treatment: Use Enamelast™ fluoride protector and Opalescence™ desensitizing toothpaste to help prevent or reduce sensitivity

5. Q: What are the active ingredients in Opalescence Whitening Gel?

A: Hydrogen Peroxide (HP) and Carbamide Peroxide (CP). Carbamide Peroxide breaks down into 1/3 hydrogen peroxide, urea (carbamide), and water. For example: 45% Carbamide Peroxide = 15% Hydrogen Peroxide.

6. Q: How does teeth whitening work?

A:The Hydrogen Peroxide (HP) gel breaks down into water and oxygen free radicals. These radicals penetrate all parts of the tooth and only target and oxidize stain molecules. By breaking down stain molecules, oxygen free radicals can move in all directions within the tooth. Therefore, it is not necessary to cover the entire tooth with whitening gel to whiten the whole tooth.

7. Q: Can teeth whitening be done on the same day as professional teeth cleaning?

A: It is not recommended to perform both on the same day, as this can easily cause tooth sensitivity. Teeth whitening is advised to be done one week later.

8. Q: Can resin restoration and teeth whitening be done simultaneously?

A: No. It is recommended to perform teeth whitening first. The active ingredients in the whitening gel will inhibit the curing of the resin. It is advised to conduct resin restoration 7-15 days after the whitening treatment.
